Summer Camp

Aviation Fundamentals Program: 1 DAY

Students will gain a basic overview of the fundamentals of flight
through the classroom, briefings, and simulators flying. $115/student.

First Officer Program: 3 DAYS

Students will be set up in-flight crews and are expected to prepare
for the next day’s briefings and simulator flights each evening of
the program. Some homework will apply.
The pace accelerates as the program progresses. The focus is on
flight crew coordination, S.O.P.s (Standard Operating Procedures)
and aircraft familiarization. $345/student.

Command Program: 5 DAYS

Students will be set up in-flight crews and are expected to prepare
for the next day’s briefings and simulator flights each evening of
the program. Some homework will apply.
Each flight crew will develop presentations on an instructor
assigned aircraft system to be presented to all flight crews at the
end of each day.
Command students will write the pre-solo “P-star* student pilot
exam for practice. Candidates will learn to operate aircraft radio
equipment. The meaning of codes that is used.
An optional B-777 aircraft systems and operations homework
assignment will be provided to students. $575/student.

The uFly Simulator facility is reserved exclusively for use by IC
students for the duration of the camp. Doors are closed to the public.
Please add HST to all program costs. Minimum of 10 students.

AVIATION IMMERSION C.A.M.P.

Commanding a 300+ tonne aircraft is a highly intellectual
endeavor, requiring a unique set of physical and mental skills and
the knowledge that can be initiated and developed in the 3 levels of
this very unique aviation immersion program.
Learning to fly is the ultimate in complex, experiential learning and
comes with a nearly vertical learning curve. Do you have the “Right
Stuff Can you keep your composure under pressure? The main goal
of the AIC is to instill critical thinking,
confidence, and leadership – the tools for success!

School Program SHSM Grade 11 and 12

The Fundamentals

We will be using 100% STEM-based learning and practice

Theory of Flight

To fly it is necessary a few fundamentals: Weight, lift, thrust, and drag.
Aerofoils flight controls, propellers, turbines.
Newton and Bernoulli. Graphs and Formulae. Experiment with
turning a plain sheet of paper into a real airfoil; have a closer
inspection of just how a frisbee flies so predictably; explore
gyroscope principles using a bicycle wheel. The magic of flight
seems so simple.
We dig deep to uncover the secrets of heavier-than-air flight.

Aviation Law and Regulations:

The rules and regulations of flight.
Airspace, pilot training and licensing, commercial operations, airline
transport operations, and airport procedures. The list is endless. Learn
the rules, regulations, and S.O.P.s during your training program!

Aircraft Systems and Mechanics:

Discover the fascinating and highly technical world of how aircraft
are managed and operated. Learn all the details about aircraft
systems such as avionics and radios, automation logic, battery and
electrical systems, flight controls and landing gear, gyro/pitot
instruments and air data systems and more.
Modern aircraft are highly sophisticated but with precise, recurrent,
professional training and maintenance they are relatively easy to
operate.

Flight Operations:

Once all of the Fundamentals have been thoroughly introduced and the flight crews have been briefed on the aircraft flight operations, it’s time to “kick the tires and light the fires” Put all the pieces of new knowledge together and fly the flight simulators at Ufly facility. Our 777 state–of–the–art simulator plus 737/800 and Cessna simulator will bring the practice to classroom. Human Factors and Pilot Decision Making are emphasized and are essential subjects in each program.

Meteorology:

Meteorology has an enormous effect on everything we do on
Planet Earth. We are affected by it.
According to Dictionary.com: “Meteorology is the science dealing
with the atmosphere and its phenomena, including weather and
climate.” Students attending the First Officer Program will gain a
basic understanding of how clouds and weather are created in the

Earth’s atmosphere. They will understand what is happening above
with winds, currents, and climate systems.
Students attending the Command Program will learn to assess
weather maps and aviation weather reports determining the
suitability of the weather for things as simple as how to dress
appropriately for the forecast weather on any given day, to what
VFR (visual) and IFR (instrument) flight conditions are and the
specific rules and regulations that go with each set of conditions.
Weather is everything!
